Andreas Pereira has disclosed that in order to ensure that he would not change his mind about leaving Manchester United, he avoided speaking with the new manager, Erik ten Hag.
After ten years at Old Trafford, Pereira left the club permanently in the summer and will return to United for the first time. The Brazilian recently signed with Fulham and has had a fantastic season in London as a regular starter for a team that has defied all expectations since returning to the top flight.
While Pereira is looking forward to returning to Manchester, he has revealed the reasoning behind his brave decision to leave the club he signed for when he was 16 after several years of loan spells. The two teams will meet in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Fulham are currently ranked ninth in the table and are still in contention for an unlikely European spot. Pereira has been a crucial part of Silva’s team this season and ranks sixth in assists. At Craven Cottage, the 27-year-old is feeling at ease.
Pereira stated, “I’m feeling at home here, and it’s been great so far.” They informed me when I first arrived that they would lose the Premier League every year. The main goal was to stay in the Premier League, but the manager told me what he wanted to accomplish and how the team should play.
“I liked him very much because he was very ambitious. We realized we could do great things with the team five games into the season, and it’s been amazing. He is a wonderful individual and extremely strong. It’s been amazing because I’ve been enjoying football.
“I didn’t talk with Ten Witch,” Pereira tells ESPN. ” I worked with him at PSV, so I know him, but I was convinced that if I spoke with the manager again, I might stay. “I need to go, I need to feel confident, and play,” I thought in my head, and that’s what I did.
“I had a lot of memories at United; great recollections, terrible recollections. Ten years have passed at the club. I was a young boy when I arrived when I was 16 years old. Although the ride was fantastic, I reached a point where I considered whether or not to stay.
“I wanted to play every game and feel more loved. It was the ideal opportunity, given what Fulham and manager Marco Silva offered me.”
