Compassion is a vital trait. It improves our emotional, social, and physical wellbeing. In fact, it is essential for our physical and mental health. In addition, compassion promotes our health and happiness. Children need to know how to show empathy toward other people.

The Latin root of compassion is pati. Its prefix com is a word that means “with.” It refers to the human spirit and soul. Similarly, mercy is an act of compassion to relieve suffering and pain. Jesus is often moved to mercy by his compassion and acts to help those in distress.
