The Jacob’s Ladder at Saint Helena is a flight of stairs found in Jamestown’s capital. From the lower portion of Jamestown to Ladder Hill, there are 699 stairs. There are many other stairways around the world that are longer and steeper, despite the fact that this one is a well-known tourist destination and offers a difficult climb.

The Niesenbahn funicular in Switzerland, which has almost 11,000 steps, and the Haiku Stairs in Hawaii, popularly known as the “Stairway to Heaven,” have some of the longest staircases. Together, they have over 3,922 steps. The Santa Maria del Monte staircase in Sicily, Italy, is one example of a steep staircase with about a 45-degree gradient.

In spite of being famous, Jacob’s Ladder in Saint Helena is neither the longest nor the steepest staircase in the world.
